Silver-gray Colorado Chalcedony on Smoky Quartz epimorphs after Laumontite - 15.5 x 11.3 x 10.3 cm - 2.32 lbs. Mineral Specimens - CLC19

This smoky quartz is an unusual silver-gray color with icicle shaped development due to the way the quartz overgrew the pre-existing laumontite. The Chalcedony layers the Quartz to make an exceptional specimen. This piece was prospected on the Buck Mine, Cripple Creek, Colorado by Clint Cross and Ralph Buck during 2010. Like specimen was selected from this find and placed in the Smithsonian Institution’s collection.
